Here's a simple procedure outlined by George Kelly for Sending to a Contact Group in gmail.
First, click on the "Contacts" link on the left in your gmail account.
When you click on the "Contacts" link and you're at the Contacts page, click on the "import" link and then look for a link that says "learn more" and when you click it, you will see instructions for formatting the lead list to be uploaded.
Also, here is an explanation of how your csv file should be formatted:
For sending teasers, only upload 450 leads in a single file. There is a 500 sending limit per day per gmail account so you want to do fewer than 500 teasers per gmail account (or you won't be able to reply to the responses because the responses count too). So if you want to send 2000 teaser emails per day, you will need to use multiple gmail accounts.
Next, upload 450 leads into a Contact Group that you set up.
I called my contact group: "GDI".
To send a teaser email:
- Log in to Gmail.
- Click Compose.
- In the To: field, enter YOUR gmail email address.
- Click on BCC to open a Blind Carbon Copy field.
- In the BCC: field, enter the first few letters of the name of the contact group which you'd like to send the message to. I typed in GDI to select my contact group. If you have more than one contact group, select your contact group from the list of contact groups the auto-complete feature suggests.
- Compose your mail using the teaser email and click send.
Make sure the list of leads is in the BCC field, NOT the CC field!
Alternate Method for Sending to Contacts
After you import the leads into your contact list and you see them under "contacts", select them all, and click where it says "email" on the right.
That will open a "compose email" screen and the contacts will all be in
the To: field.
Open the BCC: field and copy and paste all the contacts into the BCC
Then delete them from the To: field and put your own gmail email address
in the To: field.
Fill in the subject line and body and send.
