Don’t ignore social networking sites – they are not all gossip and not only will of be able find interesting nuggets of news there, you will be able to know what people are talking about and what they are interested in so you can tailor your stories accordingly. Use search engines like Google and features like Google Alerts to give you a regular supply of inputs on what is new on the internet.
Often overlooked sources for content for news blogs are industry reports, academic journals and online newspapers and magazines which will also bring a lot of information to your mail box and save you a great deal of time and money that would otherwise be required to collect the information you need. Another news source that will come to you is press releases as most of these are available online and can be accessed through RSS feeds so once again no time is wasted running around after them.
