A low-pressure approach to prospecting friends

I really like reading Big Al’s Recruiting Newsletter because there is almost always a tidbit of good stuff I come away with.

I thought this tip was pretty good because we are always looking for a good way to approach family and friends.

Now, A low-pressure approach to prospecting friends.

Before you print your business cards, do some research. Ask your friends for their opinions.

For example, say this to your friend:

“Could you help me? I am going to print my business cards, and I want to know which version you like.”

Then, show your friend three different versions of your business card. Each version will feature a different benefit.

After reviewing the three business cards, your friend might react to one of the benefits by saying:

“Hey, that looks interesting. Could you tell me a little more about that?”

Or,

“Hey, do you think I could do this too?”

The secret is to make your benefits stand out on your business cards. That’s good advice anyway.
