Splash/Landing Pages for Lead Capture
Using splash/landing pages is very popular and used by many of the affiliate marketing money makers today. I’ve been using splash/landing pages for quite some time in my Lead Generation and most if not all our bulk lead buys are coming from ads placed on those types of pages.
If you have joined Empowerism then you have some there and if you are comfortable with html, you can start with those and turn them into redirects.
I believe it was Colin that uploaded a lead capture page for GDI in the Yahoo group that could also be used to incorporate into the Empowerism provided splash pages.
Colin Spicer posted the following on the Yahoo Group:
GDI offer a number of lead capture pages which will automatically feed visitors into a GDI email series and will send their details to you. You can then make contact by email or IM.
The GDI pages can be found at

http://website.ws/kvmlm2/ws.dhtml?sponsor=username&template=4

Don’t forget, there is also the GDI “ticket” at
http://www.my.ws/username
All of these web pages, if heavily promoted, will provide you with a supply of “opt-in” leads and will send them a short series of GDI emails.
What you do then is up to you. If the numbers are small then you can probably follow up manually but if you get a large response you may need to consider an auto-responder which will accept imported leads. These are few and far between but do still exist.
Samuel Reichgott posted the following on the Yahoo Group:
Here is some high-level info on how to start an optin list. Details will vary depending on which autoresponder or mailing software or service that you use.
Pretty much any mailing software, autoresponder, or service will give you some HTML that you can copy-and-paste into a page in your website. That HTML will display what’s called a “form.” The form will usually have a place for entering a name and email address, and a button to submit the information. Some forms may have first name and last name separated, some may have spaces for other info. Again, it depends on the mailing system you select.
When a person fills in the form and clicks the button, their contact info is transferred to the mailing system software. Here’s where the options appear:
- If you use full-service hosting, with database and cgi-bin (or other scripting) capability, you could host your own mailing system software. I don’t think that our GDI accounts have that, but if I’m wrong, someone please correct me.
- If not, you can just put the form on your web page, and the software service will maintain the database for you. This usually costs extra, prices vary.
Either way, now you have a new contact in your optin list. Depending on how you set up your system, they might receive an email right away from an autoresponder. They might receive a pre-programmed series of emails. Or you might want to use the list to send a periodic “newsletter” instead of a sales-oriented email series. Login to your mailer software to manage your leads, send out emails, etc.
If you want to try some of this without spending any money, you can play with www.freeautobot.com I don’t recommend them for the long term, because it seems they have a low rate of final delivery — maybe their IP address is blocked by too many ISPs. If you wade through all the advertising on their site, you’ll at least have a chance to test out how to make a web page with a form. If you advertise your page you can still use freeautobot to build a list and you can download the list, but don’t count on email you send from freeautobot to reach your lead. Also, their system is double opt-in. You can override this manually for each new contact AFTER they submit their info. By default they get a confirmation email and if they don’t confirm interest, they never get sent your autoresponse message.
I hope that explains some of the basics for you. If you are looking for more details, I think you’ll need to visit some vendors and see how they work their systems. And of course, advertising your opt-in lead capture page is a whole other challenge!

John Powell suggested the following in the Yahoo Group:
1. Get a good autoresponder.
2. develop email series and plug them into auto responder
3. include links in email to programs you promote
4. decide what kind of GDI web page you want
5. use a form in the web page for people to fill out
6. point form back to auto responder
7. decide how you want to promote your web page
Those who have opted in belong to you and this list is now your customers.
