As has already been covered in The Challenge previously, the creation of our link network can add to our authority with Google, adding to that Ed introduces the concept of the relevancy of news and content that is on sites that Google is now paying far more attention to.
This years Challenge has some good training on how to best choose a domain name.
Here is one of the many training video's available in TheChallenge. Kenny Goodman explains what domain names are, outlining what makes a good quality domain name and how to avoid traps people make when choosing their domain name. Using examples, Kenny demonstrates why choosing a domain name that features your theme keyword phrase is so critical.
Market Samurai was a great keyword research tool which had its debut in the Thirty Day Challenge in 2008. I have regularly used the software over the last 12 months to find good targeted keywords and promoting my on-line businesses. This is one must have tool in your internet marketing toolbox.
A recent 30 Day challenge training video covered a subject we covered in our Business Strategy meeting the other day… Google Alerts. As we talked about in that meeting, Google Alerts is a great way to not only monitor your own blog posts and web sites, but it is also a great way to stay current with other web sites and blog posts that may interest you.

The 2009 30 Day Challenge is slated to begin the beginning of August and the pre-season to begin in June. If you're going to seriously do the 30DC, I highly recommend you begin with the pre-season training because they will teach you all about the incredible tools we'll be using.
Did a search through Google today for my newly created blog and found it on page 15 of the search results in position #143. Now, that won't be bringing me much traffic but after doing some of the things taught in today's ThirtyDayChallenge lesson and subsequent lessons, I fully expect it to rise in the search results.
Today, participants in the ThirtyDayChallenge were introduced to ANOTHER cool tool called WordPress Direct that automatically builds your very own SEO optimized content-based blog.
And, in keeping with the Thirty Day Challenge credo, this awesome tool is available at no charge to create up to three blogs. Since I immediately recognized the incredible power of this took, I chose the $1 trial Silver membership that allows me to create up to 15 blogs. Remember though, you can do the whole 30DC without spending a dime. However, if you are willing to spend a few bucks on registering your own domain and hosting your own account, you can get a bit of a boost. That was the option I chose because I know the importance of controlling my own domain name and web hosting… but if you don't want to fork out a little bit of cash, it can be done completely for no cost whatsoever.
Today in the ThirtyDayChallenge, we turned our attention to testing our chosen market to find out if the market spends money. I mentioned earlier a cool tool available to 30DC participants called Market Samurai. Using this tool, I was able to identify a niche within my market that had good traffic for the keyword phrase and relatively low competition of other web pages using the same phrase. This is what we lovingly call the "Phrase that Pays."

I learned about the 30-Day Challenge last year from a Hot Conference partner. What impressed me most was the QUALITY of the training provided – all for no cost. If I were to put a price tag on the training, I would say it's comparable to that provided on several popular membership sites selling for between $50 – $200/ month. In fact, I'm a member of a web community that costs me $197/mo. and their training really isn't much better than that of the 30DC.
The past thirty days has been an awesome learning experience for me as I participated in the ThirtyDayChallenge. Dan Raine and Ed Dale pealed back the covers of using Web 2.0 properties for promoting your business online. They laid out a strategy for earning money in less than 30 days with NO out-of-pocket expenses.
